Your progress through Lark is something to be proud of. You have stuck with the program and shown your ability to stay committed. The knowledge that you can keep a promise to yourself, along with any milestones you may have hit along the way, can feed your confidence which can fuel further success.
From Confidence to Success
When it comes to setting and achieving goals, it may seem as though you either can, or you cannot. Does whether you think you can even matter? Arguably one of the most successful people in history, Henry Ford seemed to think so. He is famously quoted as saying,
“Whether you think you can or whether you think you can’t, you are right.”
In other words, your thoughts may become a self-fulfilling prophecy. If you decide that you cannot, you may not try as hard. You may, consciously or not, settle for something less, or even devise a back-up plan for when your expected failure occurs. The opposite can be true if you think you can.
Why Confidence Matters
Being confident, which is not the same as being arrogant or unrealistic, can enable you to get started and to fully commit. It also lets you set higher goals, which can in turn motivate you to work harder to hit those goals. It is okay if you do not hit those higher goals. Turning to another bit of life wisdom, “If you are trying to decide whether to get an “A” in an easy class or a “B” in a hard class, get an “A” in the hard class.”
Confidence can also play another role in success. It can give you more strength to ignore any doubters who believe that you cannot hit your health or other goals.
