Management Team

Julia Hu

CEO and Founder

Julia's goal is to make people happier and healthier as the CEO of Lark Technologies. Named Top 10 Most Innovative CE Companies in the World by Fast Company, Lark is a VC-backed startup that uses AI and behavior change science to personally coach people to feel great. Lark's free chat app has been called the "Best App for Apple Health" by MacWorld and is preinstalled on all new Samsung phones as the "Siri for fitness and sleep".

A serial entrepreneur, Julia's been named 30 Under 30 by Inc and Top 10 Woman in Tech by Forbes. Prior to Lark, she ran global startup incubator Clean Tech Open, her own green buildings startup, and was an EIR at Stanford's StartX incubator. She received her master's and bachelor's degrees at Stanford University and half of an MBA from the MIT Sloan (a dropout, but they were kind enough to make lark a case study).

Jeff Zira

VP of Product & Cofounder

As the technical cofounder, Jeff manages all aspects of the product including design, development and operations.

Prior to lark, Jeff co-founded and sold a social networking startup in Japan and architected other consumer products like Kiva's lending tools and project managed Yahoo's homepage.

He has a BS from UCSB and MBA from the MIT Sloan. When possible, Jeff spends at least one whole day each weekend meditating.

Joe Cufari

Director of Partnerships

Joe has over two decades of experience as a sales and marketing expert with deep carrier market knowledge. Prior to joining Lark, Joe was the CMO of Reliance Communications and Personal Communication Devices, respectively. Additionally, he held various business development roles at Intellon Corporation, CURRENT Group, Global Grossing, Verizon Wireless and Cellular One.

Steve Fleischer

Senior Director of Data Science

Steve has over twenty years of experience in data analytics, software/systems development, and engineering management.

Steve has been passionate about deriving deeper insights through data analysis well before 'data scientist' was a well-known moniker. At Lark, he can be found working on making our technology even more intelligent through predictive analytics and machine learning.

Prior to joining Lark, Steve was Director of Software in the Life Electronics group at Sony, where he led the development of control and data analysis software for Sony's line of flow cytometry instruments. Previously, he has held technical leadership positions at several startups in Silicon Valley and Honolulu. He is the inventor of a dozen patents in diverse industries, including medical devices, intelligent video security, and telecommunications.

Steve received his doctoral and master's degrees from Stanford University while studying robotics and control systems, and he holds a bachelor's degree in Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering from Princeton University.
